明尼蘇達灰狼(Minnesota Timberwolves)中鋒湯斯(Karl Anthony Towns)16日無異議獲選為美國職業籃球NBA本年度最佳新人(NBA rookie of the year；Eddie Gottlieb Trophy)。
這是灰狼球員連續第二年拿下NBA最佳新人。去年加拿大出生的魏金斯(Andrew Wiggins)獲選最佳新秀，當時是第一位勇奪這項殊榮的明尼蘇達灰狼隊球員。
NBA年度最佳新人是由美國和加拿大的體育記者和作家所票選的。湯斯獲得全部130張第一名的選票，是繼2013年的里拉德(Damian Lillard)、2011年的葛瑞芬(Blake Griffin)、1990年的羅賓森(David Robinson)和1984年的山普森(Ralph Sampson)，另一位獲得無異議通過的最佳新人。
紐約尼克的拉脫維亞籍新秀波辛吉斯(Kristaps Porzingis)獲得第二名；丹佛金塊新秀佐基奇(Nikola Jokic)名列第三。
今年20歲的湯斯本季平均每場得分18.1分、10.7個籃板球以及1.7個阻攻，幫助灰狼本季的勝場數比上一季多出13場。
灰狼也成為自1973年和1794年水牛城勇士(Buffalo Braves)的麥克阿杜(Bob民間借款利息 McAdoo)以及迪格葛瑞歐(Ernie DiGregorio)之後，第一支連續兩年獲得最佳新人獎項的球隊。
